Srinagar, July 29: All Jammu & Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) on Saturday held a meeting in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district to deliberate the organizational setup and expansion in the Kashmir Division,
The meeting, according to a statement, was presided over by the AJKPC president Anil Sharma who appointed the organisation’s adhoc teams for the valley.
During the meeting, a threadbare discussion was made regarding the upcoming Panchayat elections as recently hinted by BR Sharma, the J&K Election Commissioner, the statement said, adding that the Panchayat leaders also deliberated the issues concerning the locals of Kashmir division with regard to the social welfare department, PHE, KPDCL, PWD, Rural Development and Revenue Department.
The participants unanimously resolved to strengthen the Panchayati Raj Institutions in J&K so that Panchayat becomes one point stop for almost all government services and schemes. The issue of problems faced by people especially widows and old age people regarding social welfare pensions was also highlighted in the meeting.
“On the demand and recommendation of local PRI members after discussions with the senior office bearers of AJKPC, Anil Sharma announced an adhoc team for the Kashmir region to be headed by Nazir Ahmed Raina, who has been designated as Convener of the AJKPC Kashmir Zone, Ghulam Ahmed Paul as Co-Convener (Central Kashmir), AK Pandita, Co-Convener (South Kashmir), Nazir Ahmed Rather as Co-Convener for North Kashmir,” the statement said.
“As per another appointment order issued by the office of the AJKPC president, the Adhoc team for district Pulwama includes Mohd Shafi Wani who has been designated as AJKPC District Convener Pulwama, besides Mukhtar Ahmed Lone, Yaar Mohd Poswal, Dazy Raina, Mahesh Dhar, Farooq Ahmed Wani and Mohd Akbar; all have been designated as Co-Conveners for district Pulwama with immediate effect,” the AJKPC said, adding that Dazy Raina has been designated as District Head (AJKPC) Women Wing, Pulwama.
Sharma congratulated the newly-appointed team members of Kashmir and asked them to work selflessly for every person in Kashmir whether the person has voted for them or not in the elections.
