Srinagar, May 30: A vibrant display of sportsmanship and youthful energy marked the Inter-School Competitions in Volleyball, Kabaddi, and Kho Kho, held in Zone Dangerpora — the largest educational zone in Jammu and Kashmir. Hosted at High School Brath Kalan, the event drew an enthusiastic participation of nearly 800 students from various schools across the zone.
The inaugural ceremony featured a warm reception for the teams and guests. Ghulam Muhammad Naikoo, Physical Education Master of the host school, addressed the gathering with an inspiring message. Emphasising the integral role of sports in education, Naikoo quoted the adage, “A sound mind in a sound body,” and highlighted how physical education complements academic learning by fostering discipline, teamwork, and overall personality development.
The atmosphere throughout the competitions was electric, with young athletes demonstrating exceptional skill, determination and sportsmanship on the field. Special commendation was extended to the Headmaster of High School Brath Kalan for his unwavering support and provision of excellent facilities, which ensured the smooth conduct of the tournament. Naikoo also applauded the efforts of all Physical Education Teachers (PETs) in the zone for their meticulous planning and dedication, which made the large-scale event a resounding success. The competitions are set to continue in the coming days, offering further opportunities for students to shine and reinforcing the importance of sports in shaping the future of young minds.
