Srinagar, Nov 01: National Conference (NC) vice-president Omar Abdullah Tuesday addressed a party workers meeting in Kargil.
Among others provincial president Nasir AslamWani, Senior leader Qamar Ali Akhoon, CEC KargilFeroz Khan, Deputy Political Secretary to VP MudassarShahmiri, Block Presidents, Parent body, YNC and members of LHDC, Kargil were present on the occasion as well.
Omar said that it was the love of people that has brought him to Kargil. “Had the people of Kargil accepted the decision of August 5, 2019, we would have also accepted the decision with a heavy heart. In democracy, it is the people’s will that prevails. In reality, except few, no one wanted the bifurcation. People in Leh are also showing their detestation for Aug 05 decisions now,” he said.
He said there is no redressal of public grievances and public representatives are also treated with disdain.
“In our times, the local representatives of Kargil and Leh councils were given their due. Local representatives had a say in decision making. Today the situation is different. The local CECs aren’t not even allowed to hoist tricolour on the independence day, let alone having a say in decision making,” he said.
Stopping Omar Abdullah from entering Dak Bungalow Drass shameful, condemnable: NC
National Conference (NC) Rank and File Tuesday condemned the Ladakh administration’s move of denying the party VP Omar Abdullah and party functionaries access to the DrassDak Bungalow and the use of public address system during his visit to the region.
In a joint statement Party general secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, chief spokesperson TanvirSadiq, Party MPs Muhammad Akbar Lone, HasnainMasoodi, senior leaders Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan, Abdul Rahim Rather, MianAltaf Ahmed, Muhammad Shafi Uri, ShariefUd Din Shariq, Mubarak Gul, ShameemaFirdous, SakinaItoo, Khalid NajeebSuharwardhy, Sajad Ahmed Kichloo, Dr. Bashir Ahmed Veeri, Ali Muhammad Dar, Javed Dar, Imran Nabi Dar, Sara Hayat Shah, Ahsan Pardesi, Salman Ali Sagar, Aijaz Jan, Ifra Jan, SabiyaQadri, District Presidents, Zonal, Youth, Women’s wing, Minority wing , Media and Social Media cell have strongly condemned the Ladakh Administration on blocking Party VPs visit to Kargil.
Reacting strongly against the move of Ladakh admin the leaders said that dissuading Omar from visiting Kargil was done with a sole purpose to hide the failures of Ladakh administration on every conceivable matrix.
The entire visit, the leaders said, was focussed on the issues faced by the local population.
“Ladakh admin doesn’t want to face the reality. The reality is that the people of Ladakh, particularly Kargil are suffering from developmental deficit and administrative inertia all at the same time. Omar Sahib’s visit to the region was aimed to gauge the issues faced by people there,” they said.
The unity call of the NC leadership and its echoing from Ladakh has also added to the frustration of the administration. “Such measures reveal that there is no window for opposition in the new chapter unfurled in J&K, and Ladakh as well. The Government doesn’t want to hear voices critical of its policies and conduct,” they added.
