Srinagar, Aug 08: As part of the nationwide ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Wednesday organised a large-scale Tiranga rally within its campus to celebrate the spirit of patriotism ahead of India’s 79th Independence Day.According to a statement issued here, the rally, aimed at instilling national pride and unity among students and staff, was flagged off by Prof. Roohi Naaz, Incharge Director of NIT Srinagar, in the presence of Institute’s Registrar Prof. Atikur Rehman. The event witnessed participation from over 1,000 individuals, including deans, heads of departments, faculty members, research scholars, non-teaching staff and students. Carrying the national flag and chanting patriotic slogans, the participants marched across the institute’s campus in a coordinated display of national unity. The rally began at the administrative block and passed through Mechanical Department, water resource centre, new guest house and before culminating at the fountain park of the campus. Speaking on the occasion, Incharge Director Prof. Roohi Naaz said that the rally was not just a symbolic gesture but a reminder of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters. “This event reflects our deep respect for the nation and its core values. It is a matter of immense pride to see the entire NIT Srinagar fraternity coming together to honour our national flag and the spirit of independence,” she said.Registrar Prof. Atikur Rehman said that the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign is about reconnecting with our identity as Indians. Through this rally, we seek to foster a sense of civic duty and national consciousness, especially among the youth who are the future of the country,” he said. The Tiranga Rally was part of a broader set of activities being conducted by NIT Srinagar in the lead-up to Independence Day. The Institute has planned a series of events over the next week. It includes cultural programs, patriotic song competitions, debates, and awareness drives to highlight the significance of India’s freedom struggle and constitutional values.
