Jammu, Dec 02: “The Bharatiya Janata Party-led Union government is leaving no stone unturned in its mission to eradicate terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir,” BJP executive member Raman Suri said on Monday.
“With a steadfast commitment to restoring peace, prosperity, and self-reliance in the region, the deployment of elite National Security Guard (NSG) commandos has been supplemented by two new battalions of the Border Security Force (BSF), comprising over 2,000 personnel. These forces will strengthen border defences, combat infiltration, and suppress terrorist activities in the Jammu region,” he said in a statement issued here.
Suri hailed the government’s decisive action, highlighting its zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism and its supporters. “This BJP-led government is committed to maintaining the sovereignty of our nation and ensuring peace for the people of J&K,” he said. “Gone are the days when anti-national elements operated with impunity. We are determined to build an atmosphere conducive to development and nation-building.”
The fresh BSF deployment will act as a “second line of defence” behind existing border forces, covering vulnerable areas in Jammu and its surrounding regions, the BJP leader said. “Security officials revealed that multiple points equipped with 24/7 CCTV surveillance have been established along the International Border (IB) with Pakistan to curb infiltration, arms smuggling, and drug trafficking. This strategic move will plug gaps in areas like Samba and other sensitive locations along the Jammu-Punjab boundary,” he added.
Raman further highlighted the ongoing crackdown on “white-collared terrorist sympathisers embedded in government departments, businesses and NGOs”. “This government is committed to cleansing the system of anti-national elements operating under various disguises,” he said. “Such individuals misguide our youth and alienate communities, but their days are numbered. The recent firing of employees from the jobs is indicative enough for anti-nationals to mend their ways or else face elimination,” he said.
The enhanced security grid comes after a spate of terrorist attacks in 2024 across districts like Rajouri, Poonch, Udhampur and Kathua, which resulted in over 40 deaths, including 18 security personnel.
The NSG commandos, along with advanced intelligence operations, are actively working to identify and neutralise threats, including cross-border tunnels and terror networks in dense forests and mountainous terrains, Suri said, adding that this integrated approach will not only prevent attacks but also secure the livelihoods of civilians in the region.
The BJP leader asserted, “The deployment of NSG and additional BSF forces reflects the Centre’s commitment to safeguarding every citizen of J&K. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the government is resolute in ensuring that peace and prosperity become a reality for all in the Union Territory.” With these measures, the Centre aims to usher in a new era of stability and development for Jammu and Kashmir, creating opportunities for growth and strengthening the fabric of the nation.
