NC Women’s Wing to ‘knock every door’ during statehood signature campaign

Srinagar, Aug 23: National Conference (NC) Women’s Wing State President, Shameema Firdous on Saturday announced the launch of a valley-wide signature campaign, announced by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, to mobilise support for the restoration of statehood to Jammu & Kashmir.The signature campaign, she said, is central to the welfare, dignity, and political empowerment of Kashmiri women. She urged Women’s Wing functionaries to reach every household and ensure the participation of “every mother and sister in Kashmir” in the campaign.“We must knock on every door and ensure that the voice of every Kashmiri woman is heard. Our strength lies in our unity, and in our collective will to stand up for our rights,” Firdous said while chairing a crucial provincial committee meeting at the party headquarters, Nawa-e-Subha here.The meeting was organised by Women’s Wing Provincial President Er Sabiya Qadri. Prominent women functionaries and senior party workers from across the valley attended the session, the party said in a statement issued here.During the meeting, the members held wide-ranging deliberations on the Wing’s ongoing public outreach efforts, organisational challenges, and pressing issues impacting the lives of women across Jammu and Kashmir.Emphasising the need for an inclusive and participatory political movement, Shameema, who is also the MLA Habba Kadal, called on the cadre to scale up outreach activities in every district.The meeting concluded with renewed resolve among members to intensify public outreach and strengthen the party’s bond with the people at the grassroots.
