Srinagar, Apr 11: National Conference (NC) on Friday slammed Leader of Opposition (LoP) Sunil Sharma’s comments regarding the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, saying the Bharatiya Janata Party leader’s remarks directly contradict the promises made by the Prime Minister during his election campaign visits to Srinagar and Jammu.
In a statement issued here, the party’s State Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar expressed disappointment, saying that LoP’s comments are a far cry from the commitments made by the Prime Minister and Home Minister to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasised the challenges faced by the region due to its unique cultural diversity and difficult geography, highlighting the disconnect between BJP leaders and the real issues faced by the people.
Imran also referenced the promises made by Home Minister Amit Shah, urging for the swift restoration of statehood as pledged by the BJP central leadership.
He pointed out that the constant vague assurances of statehood being restored without a specific timeline are getting old, and it’s time for action. Imran expressed hope that PM Modi will deliver on his promises, bringing back the much-awaited statehood to J&K.
