Srinagar, Dec 14: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Women’s Wing president and MLA Habba Kadal, Advocate Shameema Firdous on Saturday said the party is committed to enhancing the livelihood and employment opportunities for the fishing community.
Interacting with fishermen and women at Tengpora Bypass, MLA Firdous expressed the party’s commitment to establishing specialised fish markets to boost the economic well-being of fishermen and women throughout the region.
The interaction was followed by a meeting with the Director of Fisheries Department, officers from the Joint Director Fisheries and officers of Revenue Departments and other stakeholders, a statement issued here said.
It was announced that the current fish market at Daresh Kadal (Safa Kadal) will be relocated to Tengpora Bypass. Seven kanals of land have already been designated for this purpose, ensuring a more convenient and spacious facility for the industry.
Shameema commended the government’s allocation of Rs 500 crore for the construction of the fisheries market and for initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the fishing community.
