Srinagar, July 18: A 26-year-old woman tragically lost her life and her six-year-old son was left critically injured after being struck by a speeding truck in the Parimpora area of Srinagar on Friday. The woman’s husband sustained minor injuries in the incident.Eyewitnesses said that the family was walking along the roadside when the truck veered towards them, hitting all three. The woman, identified as Nusrat, wife of Bilal Ahmad Kumar from Charar-e-Sharief, Budgam, was rushed to JVC Hospital in Bemina but was declared brought dead.Her husband, Bilal Ahmad, son of Abdul Salam Kumar, suffered minor injuries and is said to be in stable condition. Their young son, Hameed, remains in critical condition and is undergoing treatment at the same hospital. Police have arrested the driver of the truck and launched a formal investigation into the incident. A case has been registered and legal proceedings are underway.Meanwhile, local residents have voiced serious concern over the growing menace of reckless driving in the city and have called for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations to ensure pedestrian safety.
