Srinagar, Oct 21: The Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), Kulgam, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, said on Monday that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have now gained a legitimate forum where together they will strive to guide the people on the path of progress.
Tarigami, a senior leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) was speaking to the media persons after taking an oath in the J&K Assembly in Srinagar.
“Today’s oath ceremony holds great significance. This marks the first such ceremony since the 2014 Assembly elections,” Tarigami said. He expressed satisfaction that the Assembly has now been constituted in the erstwhile state.
“And now, it is just the beginning of a new chapter. We hope that the issues and concerns of the people will be debated and discussed. Our people have gained a legitimate forum, where together we will strive to move them on the path of progress,” the MLA Kulgam said.
The CPI(M) leader further said that while the political parties will continue to hold their positions, the House must address the pressing issues of peace, security, dignity and livelihood, seeking solutions to ensure that the people of Jammu and Kashmir find relief.
When asked if Article 370 will be a central topic of discussion in the Assembly, Tarigami said, “Everything will be discussed. This House is the voice of the people, the legitimate forum of the people. Every issue will be brought up for discussion.”
