Srinagar, Mar 08: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Salman Ali Sagar expressed serious concerns over the acute water scarcity affecting various areas of his Hazratbal constituency during the ongoing Assembly session.
Addressing the challenges faced by residents, he pressed the government for urgent action on critical water supply issues. He specifically raised concerns regarding the long-pending issues related to SE and Mowas Canal and inquired about the steps being taken to resolve them.
The National Conference leader called for the augmentation of the Hadura 0.5 MG water plant to address water shortages in Phaak and Hazratbal areas.
Recognising the struggles of rural residents, he questioned the government’s plans for constructing bore wells or tube wells in Fakir Gujri, Gandtal, Dharbagh and adjoining regions to mitigate the ongoing crisis.
The Ministry of Jal Shakti in its response provided a detailed reply outlining the measures taken and planned interventions to improve the water supply in these areas. Despite these assurances, Sagar called for concrete action and urged the government to expedite necessary projects.
“Immediate steps must be taken to ensure an adequate drinking water supply for both urban and rural areas of the Hazratbal constituency to alleviate the hardships faced by the people,” he said.
