The Meteorological Department on Monday forecast light snowfall over higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, including Kishtwar, Sinthan Top, Margan Top, Zojila, Gumri axis, upper reaches of Pahalgam, Shri Amarnath Ji cave and some higher reaches of Bandipora.
It said light to moderate rain is likely at many places between August 25 and 26, with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in Jammu, Reasi, Udhampur, Samba, Kathua and Rajouri districts.
Heavy rainfall has also been predicted over Poonch, Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar and southern parts of Kashmir division, accompanied by thunder and gusty winds.
Authorities have advised people in vulnerable areas to remain alert to the risk of flash floods, landslides and waterlogging during the wet spell.
