Pulwama, Aug 05 : Like other parts of the country, authorities here in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district are going to roll out a series of activities from 9th to 15th of August to observe ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
While interacting with media here at Circuit House, Assistant Commissioner Development ( ACD), Pulwama, Dr Peerzada Farhat Ahmad, revealed that on 9th of August they will erect plaque memorials at all Panchayat Halqas of the district to pay respect to veers.
He informed that the Panchayat memorial plaques ( PMP) will be erected near Amrit Sarovars and water bodies.
“ In case there is no sarovar or water body available then the plaques will be erected near panchayats or school buildings,” he said, adding that a 5 feet long and 3 feet wide plaque will be made under MGNREGA.
It was revealed that the PMP design will include Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav logo, location name and date, salutations to the heroes who sacrificed their lives to protect freedom, names of veers and the following quotation;
“To live for the motherland each day, every moment of time and every particle of life will be our true tribute to the freedom fighters.”
During the interaction it was also revealed that on the same day local veers, freedom fighters and family members of veers will be felicitated by the administration.
The officials informed that on 10th August 75 saplings per Panchayat Halqa will be planted and on 12th soil from Panchayat will be carried to block level in earthen pots ( Kalashs) where from they will be taken to Delhi.
On 15th of August besides hoisting of National Flag and singing of Rashtra Gaan events will be held at district level in chowks named after martyrs where Diyas will be lit. All district and sectoral officers will lit a Diya each.
Besides these there will be other activities which include taking panch pran pledge, taking pledge holding mitti and uploading selfies on campaign website and social media.
