Shopian, May 23: A mega art and culture mela under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav (AKAM) and G20 was on Tuesday held at Imtiyaz Memorial Govt. Degree College (IMGDC) Shopian to boost the innate capabilities of the students of the district. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb was the chief guest and Principal Govt Degree College Shopian, Mohammad Shafiq was the guest of honor.
The programme was inaugurated by DC Shopian, in the presence of Principal IMGDC, who boosted the morale of the students while presenting the inaugural note. More than 500 students from different schools participated and 25 students contested in 5 components including Painting, singing, essay writing, stand-up comedy and seminar.
The DC on the occasion highlighted the role of early goal setting in careers. He spoke with students on the significance of co-curricular activities for personal development.
Among others, the event was attended by Chief Education Officer, Shopian, Mushtaq Ahmad; Deputy Chief Education Officer Shopian, Javaid Ahmad Khan; Zonal Education Officers, besides officers and officials of concerned departments.
