Mandeep Kaur visits Harwan block of Srinagar, reviews progress of SBM-G, MGNREGA schemes

Commissioner Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Mandeep Kaur today visited several areas of Harwan Block of Srinagar district and conducted comprehensive inspection of various Swachh Bharat Mission- Gramin (SBM-G) projects and Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) schemes.

Director, RDD, Kashmir, Shabir Hussain Bhat; Assistant Commissioner Development, Srinagar, District Development Council (DDC) Members, Block Development Council (BDC) Members, Sarpanches and other senior officers of Rural Development department accompanied the Commissioner Secretary during the visit.

The areas inspected by the Commissioner Secretary include Dara, Faqir Gujri, New Theed, Gandtal, and Saidpora.

The visit was held to have an in-depth assessment of activities under SBM-G like house-to-house garbage collection, establishment of individual and community soakage pits, compost pits, and establishment of Segregation Sheds. The progress of MGNREGA schemes, which play a crucial role in enhancing rural livelihoods through employment generation and infrastructure development, wad also held.

During the visit, Mandeep Kaur interacted with local residents and PRI members, gathering first-hand insights into the ongoing SBM-G and MGNREGA initiatives in the Block.

While interacting with them, she remarked that Government is committed to sustainable rural development, sanitation practices, and enhancing rural employment with proactive engagement with of local communities and PRI members. She also noted valuable insights into the progress of SBM-G and MGNREGA projects and their impact on the lives of residents in Harwan Block.
