Police have arrested a man identified as “Razzaq Bab” for constructing a replica of the Kaaba at his home, an act that has sparked widespread reactions on social media.
A Spokesperson said that Baramulla Police has apprehended an individual, Mamely Abdul Razak Lone, son of Gh. Ahmad Lone, resident of Waripora Kunzar, whose video had recently gone viral on social media. The said individual had constructed a structure resembling the Holy Kaaba, which was later voluntarily demolished by locals during the night.
Preliminary inquiry suggests that the individual appears to be mentally unsound. As per due legal procedure, necessary medical evaluation will be conducted, and he will be taken to a psychiatric hospital after obtaining requisite orders from the Executive Magistrate.
