Lauds donors and families for giving the “gift of life” and inspiring hope across the region
Jammu, April 26, 2026: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday attended ‘Naman Diwas’, an event held in Jammu to honour organ donors and their families.
Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor expressed deep gratitude to organ donors, saying they have brought happiness and hope to countless lives by giving the “gift of life.”
He said that organ donors are among the true heroes of society, and no award or recognition can fully measure the value of their contribution. “Because of you, someone is able to see the world, someone is able to live a better life,” he said, highlighting the impact of cornea and kidney donations.
Referring to the broader meaning of giving, Sinha said that the true measure of humanity lies not in what people accumulate, but in what they give to others. He noted that organ donation is one of the most noble and selfless acts a person can perform.
The Lieutenant Governor also praised the efforts of the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization of Jammu and Kashmir (SOTTO J&K) for spreading awareness, building hospital partnerships, working with NGOs, and training medical staff to support organ donation processes. He urged the organisation to further expand awareness campaigns in schools, colleges, workplaces, and community spaces.
He also encouraged citizens to pledge for organ donation, saying that every person has the potential to save lives even after death.
Addressing cultural and religious concerns around organ donation, he said that most traditions support selfless giving and the protection of life, and that organ donation is widely regarded as an act of compassion across faiths.
The event focused on recognising donors and their families and encouraging more people to come forward for organ donation across the region.
