Srinagar, Apr 21: A female leopard along with her two cubs has been sighted in the forests of the Khanpora area in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, raising concerns among wildlife officials.
Confirming the presence of the leopard and her cubs, an official from the Wildlife Control Baramulla said they are planning a rescue operation in the Khanpora forest area.
“We are planning a rescue operation in the area as there is a possibility of the leopard being present. Our aim is to capture these leopards alive, as they have come down from the forested areas,” the official said.
It is important to ensure public safety, he said and advised people to adhere to the advisory and avoid visiting areas where leopard sightings have been reported.
“In case any leopard is sighted in any area of the Baramulla district, it is important for people to immediately contact the wildlife department. This will enable us to capture the leopards safely,” the official added.
