Udhampur, July 05: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Ranbir Singh Pathania on Wednesday took a potshot at the National Conference, People’s Democratic Party, Congress and others with “vested interests” for “misleading the people with hallucinations and exaggerations”.
Addressing a meeting of BJP cadres at Ramnagar, Patania said, “Negativity and narcissism have crept into their veins. In a landmark decision, the J&K government has given the benefit of PMAY (G) to 1.83 lakh households. These people otherwise qualified to be enlisted under PMAY (G) but the only hitch was that either they did not possess land or the land on which they were living was not in their title. In cases, it belonged to custodian, state or any other departments, or other co-sharers or co-owners.”
“The monumental judgement of  Rajesh Yadav v/s State of UP unequivocally ruled that ‘Right to shelter’ is a fundamental right granted under Article 19(1)(e) read with article 21 of the Indian Constitution, it is the duty of the state to grant shelter for its citizens. It is not mere protection for life or limb, it provides opportunities for human beings to grow physically, mentally, intellectually, and spiritually. The right to shelter includes adequate space, safe and decent structure, decent surroundings, sufficient light, pure air and water, electricity, sanitation and other civic amenities. The right to life guaranteed in any civilized society implies the right to food, water, a decent environment, education, medical care, and shelter,” he said.
It is necessary for the state to take steps in order to bring Dalits and tribals into the mainstream of national life, the BJP spokesperson said. “Given a slew of public-friendly initiatives of Modi government in J&K, the unprecedented development and downward slump in militancy, BJP has become the people’s voice in J&K,” he said.
While addressing other issues he also called for immediate restoration of civil supplies in view of incessant rains and the shortage of essential commodities like LPG, kerosene, household articles and power and clean drinking water may bloom up into a calamity for the people putting up over here.
