Srinagar, Jan 19: NSS volunteers from the University of Kashmir returned to the campus after participating in the National Youth Festival held at Hubli Karnataka. The contingent of two male and two female volunteers was deputed by NSS Programme Coordinator of the varsity, Dr Mussavir Ahmad.
The volunteers performed in various activities, including folk dance and songs Yuwa Kriti, Youth Summit, Yogathon, indigenous sports, food festival and art camp.
Usman Gani, an NSS volunteer from the department of Law was awarded for his outstanding performance.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Nilofer Khan congratulated the contingent for participating in the festival.
Meanwhile, NSS volunteers continued with their efforts of sensitising people on traffic rules and regulations. Several NSS volunteers from various teaching departments participated in a traffic awareness drive held in collaboration with Traffic police department of Srinagar, at Hazratbal. During the drive, drivers were made aware about the benefits of following traffic rules and regulations.
Dr Mussavir emphasised the significant role of NSS in such activities and urged all NSS units from the colleges and higher secondary schools to undertake these small initiatives in the vicinity of their institutions in collaboration with local traffic police. Later, Registrar University of Kashmir Dr Nisar Ahmad Mir appreciated the NSS volunteers and programme officers for actively participating in such events.
