Kupwara, Feb 18: To strengthen emergency healthcare in the border district of Kupwara, Quality Healthcare Hospital in Bramri has designated a dedicated operation theatre for security forces. Additionally, the hospital has launched a critical care ambulance service to provide timely medical assistance to needy patients.
Speaking to Rising Kashmir, the Managing Director of Quality Healthcare Hospital, Dr Majeed Wani, said the facility has three modular operation theatres, with one specifically reserved for the armed forces.
“We know emergencies can occur anytime, especially for our armed forces serving in tough terrain and harsh conditions to guard our borders. In case of accidents, heart attacks, or strokes, they can utilize our services here rather than being shifted to Srinagar, Delhi, or Udhampur,” Dr Wani said.
The hospital launched the critical care ambulance service on Tuesday, aiming to improve patient transport to tertiary care facilities. The ambulance was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan, in the presence of Commander 8 Sector, SSP Kupwara Ghulam Jeelani Wani, CMO Kupwara, CEO Kupwara, and other officials.
“This critical ambulance service will provide a major boost to healthcare in the border district,” said DC Kupwara. “Safe shifting of critical patients is essential, and this ambulance, equipped with advanced facilities and qualified staff, will ensure timely assistance.”
In addition, Director SKIMS Prof Mohd Ashraf Ganaie through his virtual message via HOD Critical CARE Medicine Prof Mohd Akbar Shah appreciated such contribution in the peripheral healthcare system for safe transportation to tertiary care centres like SKIMS and thus saving many lives. He stressed on development of peripheral healthcare to decrease the burden on tertiary care centres to deliver quality healthcare.
The hospital management expressed gratitude to the district administration, security forces, and police for their support. Dr Wani also shared a toll-free helpline number, 1800 889 889 699, for those seeking ambulance services.
“We congratulate the people of North Kashmir who can now evaluate both private and government hospitals for better healthcare,” Dr. Wani added. “Our team remains committed to serving the people, whether it’s civilians or those safeguarding our borders.”
