Srinagar, Nov 14: Vice-Chancellor University of Kashmir Prof Nilofer Khan on Monday chaired the advisory committee meeting of the varsity’s Centre for Career Planning and Counselling (CCPC).

Calling for a “result-oriented roadmap” from the Centre on its future plans and programmes in the areas of coaching, counselling and placements, Prof Nilofer impressed that there shouldn’t be any compromise on the “quality” of coaching being offered to the students as well as on the “quality and credibility” of human resource/coaching agencies being engaged by the Centre for various programmes.

The Vice-Chancellor said that coaching of students for IAS, KAS, JEE, NEET etc is a very important pro-society mandate of the CCPC and concerns the credibility of the University as well. Therefore, the VC said, it is important to maintain quality so that the aspirants are truly benefitted while the University’s reputation gets enhanced in the society.

Prof Nilofer assured her administration’s support to all CCPC’s endeavors that aim at making the Centre more visible and impactful.

Prof G M Bhat, Former Rector, Bhadarwah Campus, a member of the Committee, said the rate of success of programmes offered by CCPC will enhance its visibility and impact.

“There is a need to focus on offering courses where we have the capability and competence to produce better results,” he said, urging selection of best human resource and studying of “some good models in the country” for best outcome of different programmes.

Dr Farooq A Lone, IAS, Former Member J&K PSC, also a member of the committee, called for blending general knowledge/current affairs and communication skills with different courses to produce good results and greater impact in the market.

Prof Anju Bhasin, former VC Cluster University of Jammu—another member on the panel—called for “career mapping” of students to see their areas of interest. This, she said, will enable the CCPC to align its programmes accordingly and avoid later-stage counselling of students on the viability of the career paths they have opted for.

Other members of the committee including Dean Academic Affairs Prof Farooq Masoodi, Registrar Dr Nisar A Mir, Director IOT Zakura Prof Gowhar Bashir Vakil, Director Admissions Prof Farooq A Mir and Director Finance KU, Mr Bashir A Haji also spoke on the occasion and gave their valuable suggestions on further progression of the CCPC.

Dr Nisar, while assuring University administration’s support to CCPC’s programmes, also called for imparting training on soft-skills as part of various coaching programmes of the Centre.

Earlier, Director CCPC Prof Geer Mohammad Ishaq gave a detailed power-point presentation on Performance Appraisal of the Centre. He highlighted various coaching, placement and mentoring programmes held by the CCPC in the independent and collaborative modes.

Joint Registrar Inam-ul-Rauf Malik also attended the meeting.
