Srinagar, July 16: SXR Studios and Go Hobo GO in partnership with Red FM, Rivers and Roads Cafe and IC advertising successfully debuted Koshur Kartab – a fusion musical event at Sangarmal here. The event boasted a music lineup of both young artists and the pioneers of the Kashmiri music industry. Irfan Bilal, Ahmer, Ali Saifuddin, SOS, Ubaid Taj, Qafila, Rishab, Thugflow and Rather Hashim treated the audience to a musical evening.
Talking about the event, Rather Hashim, one of the performers, told Rising Kashmir that it was indeed a new initiative as it provided a stage for both rap and music. The two are usually separated from each other but here we all can share the same stage, he said.
He went on to say that he saw this event as a chance to celebrate Kashmiri music. “Events like these create stability for artists… Gigs bring financial stability… In the end, they help us celebrate Kashmiri music,” he said.
The event had a significant footfall with many attendees from across the city who had bought tickets to see these artists perform.
One of the audience members said, “The event was refreshing and it was great to be able to experience such powerful performances.”
Hashim said it is time people celebrate Kashmir’s rich culture and pay attention to it. “You get to sit and listen to music and it makes you feel good,” he said.
Events like these show promise for the Kashmiri music industry as more and more people are starting to support local artists and music.
