Jammu, Aug 16: National Conference (NC) Additional General Secretary and former minister Ajay Kumar Sadhotra on Saturday visited GMC Hospital Jammu here to enquire about the health status of the injured pilgrims of the Machail Mata Yatra, who sustained injuries in the tragic cloudburst at Chasoti village in Kishtwar district.Sadhotra interacted with the injured and their attendants, expressed solidarity with the suffering families, and wished them a speedy and complete recovery. He appreciated the medical teams for providing specialised treatment and hoped that the injured would continue to receive every possible assistance and the best available care. The NC leader lauded the visit of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to the affected area to personally take stock of the devastation caused by the natural calamity. He welcomed the government’s announcement regarding ex-gratia relief of Rs two lakh to the next of kin of the deceased and financial assistance of Rs one lakh to the grievously injured, Rs 50,000 for minor injured, and Rs one lakh for the fully damaged house. “This is a step towards alleviating the pain and suffering of the victims’ families, notwithstanding the fact that no amount can compensate for precious lives and sufferings,” he said.Sadhotra said the National Conference stands shoulder to shoulder with the victims and their families in this tragic hour. “We share their pain, and our prayers and support will remain with them as they come to terms with this heart-wrenching calamity,” he added.
