Srinagar, Jan 25: As the Kashmir Valley commemorated the 14th National Voters Day, numerous programs aimed at raising awareness about the importance of voting were successfully conducted across districts and sub-districts. In some instances, voter ID cards were issued to first-time voters, adding to the celebratory atmosphere. Rising Kashmir spoke to several first-time voters, capturing their excitement and understanding of the significance of their votes.
Aadil Bashir:
“I am thrilled to get my name registered on the voter list. Now I am eligible to cast my vote and select my favourite candidate. I am both excited and hopeful that my vote will bring change. I am confident that my first vote will be for change.”
Disha Pandith:
“I express my gratitude to the Srinagar District Election Commission for recognizing me as a youth icon. As an international gold medalist in Sqay Martial Arts and a student at SP College, I appreciate the importance of discipline and dedication. I am eagerly looking forward to casting my first-time vote. I acknowledge the power it holds to shape our future, and each vote represents a decisive move toward building a stronger society.”
Reshi Shahid:I have never voted before, as I wasn’t eligible to exercise my franchise. However, as a citizen in a democratic nation, I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to empower someone who can maximize the impact of my vote.”

“As a first-time female voter, I believe my ballot is more than just a mark on paper; it’s a strong affirmation of my faith in a democratic future. My vote is a powerful contribution to the vibrant tapestry of our nation, underscoring the significance of women in shaping the course of democracy.”
