Srinagar, Mar 07: A Kashmiri man, Faizan Rasool, was duped with a fake job offer and trafficked to Myanmar, where his captors now demand Rs 4.5 lakh ransom. His desperate family pleads for urgent government intervention.
The 28-year-old from Safakadal, Srinagar, left home hoping for a better future but fell into the hands of traffickers in Myanmar. It has been learnt that his captors demand Rs 4.5 lakh for his release, an amount his family cannot afford.
Faizan was misled by a friend who promised him a job in Thailand but was smuggled into Myanmar. His parents now plead for help, fearing they may never see him again.
Talking to Rising Kashmir, Faizan’s father, Ghulam Rasool Bhat, said they feel helpless and fear for his son’s safety. “If the J&K government doesn’t act, we may lose our son forever. As traffickers grow bolder, urgent action is needed before another youth disappears,” he said.
Recently, another Kashmiri youth returned home after his family paid the same ransom, leaving them in deep debt. Cases like these are rising, with young men lured into job scams and forced into dangerous situations.
