Srinagar, Feb 27, 2025: To assess the stock, supply, and distribution of fertilisers in the Kashmir Division, Joint Director Agriculture (Extension) Kashmir, Sartaj Ahmad Shah, chaired a meeting on Thursday with heads and representatives of fertiliser companies operating in the region, along with officers from the enforcement wing of the Department of Agriculture.
During the meeting, Shah said the department is committed to safeguarding the interests of the farming community. He urged stakeholders, including fertilizer company representatives, to ensure that only high-quality inputs, particularly fertilisers, reach farmers.
Highlighting the importance of transparency and accountability, Shah stressed the need for a streamlined system to facilitate the smooth distribution of quality fertilizers to growers.
The Joint Director reiterated that the primary objective of the law enforcement wing is to ensure the timely availability of quality agricultural inputs to farmers through proper sale outlets. He called on officers to make sincere efforts to enhance online service delivery mechanisms for farmers, ensuring greater accessibility and efficiency.
Shah directed field officers to strictly implement the provisions of the Insecticides Act and the Fertiliser Control Order in letter and spirit. He emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts among all stakeholders to maintain the quality and timely supply of fertilisers, which are critical for agricultural productivity.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Director Law Enforcement, Plant Protection Officer Kashmir, District Law Enforcement Officers for North and South Kashmir, and other senior officers from the enforcement wing of the Agriculture Department.
The JD Agriculture called for collective responsibility in ensuring that the farming community receives the best possible support, enabling them to achieve optimal agricultural outcomes.
