Srinagar, June 20: In line with the directives of the Commissioner SMC, Faz Lul Haseeb, Joint Commissioner SMC (Adm), Nuzhat Khurshid, Friday conducted a comprehensive inspection of Muharram arrangements at Khomeini Chowk, Bemina.
The visit was undertaken with senior officials including the Executive Engineer City Roads Division, Executive Engineer Drainage Circle, Executive Engineer Electric, Chief Sanitation Officer, Sanitation Officer and the concerned Ward Officer were present on the tour. During the visit, Nuzhat engaged with senior citizens and local representatives to evaluate the preparedness for the upcoming Muharram ul Haram observances. The discussions focused on key civic issues such as repairing damaged manholes around the Imam Bargah, macadamisation of lanes, installation of street lights, development of Imam Bargah Park, and ensuring the availability of 24/7 drinking water. Immediate directions were issued by Nuzhat to enhance sanitation, cleanliness, street lighting, and water supply during Muharram gatherings. Particular emphasis was placed on the installation, repair, and maintenance of street lights to ensure the safety and well-being of mourners, especially during evening processions. The Srinagar Municipal Corporation reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating a smooth and respectful Muharram observance by working in close coordination with all stakeholders. The SMC remains prepared to provide full support and essential civic services to ensure a peaceful and dignified commemoration of this significant religious occasion.
