Srinagar, Dec 20: Taking serious note of complaints, the Jammu and Kashmir Medical Council on Friday warned against unregistered medical practice and urged compliance to safeguard human lives.
President, J&K Medical Council, Dr Saleem Khan said it has come to their notice that private hospitals, nursing homes, diagnostic centres, clinical laboratories and blood banks in Jammu and Kashmir are allowing some practitioners to operate without having registration with the Medical Council, which is against the rules.
In a notice issued on Friday, the J&K Medical Council urged all private hospitals, nursing homes, diagnostic centres and similar establishments not to permit any doctor, whether from J&K or outside, to practice or perform any investigation, procedure or surgery.
It said such activities are prohibited unless the doctor holds permanent registration or additional qualification registration, as required, from the J&K Medical Council. “Such actions violate the rules and constitute a serious breach of professional ethics and the code of conduct. We have taken serious note of this to safeguard human lives,” he said.
The medical council has warned the hospitals that they should first advise any doctor working without proper registration in Jammu & Kashmir to apply and acquire registration online from J&K Medical Council website www.jkmedicalcouncil.in to ensure the safety of human lives and not conduct any breach of professional conduct.
“Failure to comply will result in disciplinary action against the medical professional under the Professional Conduct, Etiquette & Ethics Regulations 2002,” the notice said.
