Srinagar, June 13: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) has expressed resentment over the “worsened” power scenario coupled with the scarcity of potable water supply to the people across Jammu and Kashmir for over a considerable period of time now.
Apni Party vice president Javaid Mustafa Mir voiced his “profound concern” regarding the persistent power supply disruptions in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the frequent power outages not only impose hardships on domestic consumers but also inflict significant losses on businesses and industries across J&K.
In a statement issued here, Mir said, “The complaints pouring in from almost all the areas of J&K suggest that frequent power curtailments are causing significant inconvenience and hardship to the common people, while traders and people involved in industries including tourism are subjected to huge losses due to the ongoing power crisis.”
“It is sad to see that the concerned department is failing to provide an adequate power supply to the people in both metered and non-metered areas across J&K, and this situation brings about immense inconvenience to the people in all corners of the UT,” he added.
Mir urged the LG administration to look into the matter and ensure the people get the required power supply uninterruptedly.
Party’s chief spokesperson Javaid Hassan Beigh in a statement lamented the impending issues and accused the authorities of a lackadaisical approach towards the imminent issues being faced by the people across the length and breadth of the valley.
“The availability of electricity and water have been two pressing issues of the people of Jammu and Kashmir for a long now and the demand for both of these goes up by manifolds in summer, however, the authorities concerned are least bothered to take workable measures to see an end to the miseries faced by the people,” Beigh said.
“The patient-care and education sectors have been facing the maximum burnt in the absence of planned electricity schedule,” he said, adding despite time-to-time representations by the people, things are only worsening over a period of time now.
Beigh urged LG Manoj Sinha to take notice of the issues for an early redressal to mitigate the sufferings of the people across Jammu and Kashmir. “It is imperative that the administration takes these concerns seriously and demonstrates a proactive approach and a genuine commitment to the welfare of our people,” he said.
