Srinagar, Aug 19: The Jammu & Kashmir Alternative Care Network (JKACN) has expressed profound grief over the tragic loss lives in Chashoti village, Kishtwar, following the devastating cloudburst and flash floods. In an emergency meeting, JKACN members conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and reaffirmed their commitment to support relief and rehabilitation efforts in collaboration with local authorities and civil society groups.According to a statement issued here, JKACN announced that a team will soon be dispatched to Kishtwar to assess the situation, understand the needs of affected families, and plan coordinated interventions. The network lauded the swift response of the district administration, volunteers, and local organizations of Kishtwar and the Chenab region for leading rescue operations under extremely challenging conditions.As part of its core mandate, JKACN highlighted the urgent need to safeguard children impacted by the tragedy. The network has formally appealed to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Kishtwar to ensure the safety, protection, and psychosocial support of affected children, if any, and extended its full support in addressing the needs of children in need of care and protection, including through preventive sponsorship or other appropriate means.
