Jammu, May 26: The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) hosted an engaging ‘Meet the Author’ event to celebrate acclaimed Hindi writer Dr Chanchal Dogra (Sharma), recognising her rich contribution to Hindi literature.
Welcoming the guests, JKAACL Secretary Harvinder Kour underscored the objective of the series — to document the creative journeys of J&K’s literary and artistic figures. Praising Dr Dogra’s work, she noted, “Her writings give voice to women’s issues, social realities, and cultural values.”
Dr Dogra was felicitated with a shawl, memento, and floral tribute in the presence of Sonali Arun Gupta, Additional Secretary, JKAACL; Dr Javaid Rahi, Divisional Head Jammu; and noted literary figures Prof P.N. Trisal, Dr R.L. Shant, and Dr A.S. Amn. A scholarly paper presented by Dr Adarsh Prakash examined Dr Dogra’s literary journey and thematic depth, highlighting her poetry, essays, and stories marked by psychological insight and social consciousness. In her reflective session Main Aur Meri Sahityik Yatra, Dr Dogra shared her five-decade-long literary odyssey, detailing her evolution, struggles as a woman writer, and her pursuit of truth and resilience through literature. Dr Javaid Rahi delivered the vote of thanks, lauding Dr Dogra’s contribution to Hindi literature, while Dr Chanchal Sharma, Editor (Hindi), JKAACL, skilfully conducted the proceedings
