Jammu, Nov 29 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha emphasised the pivotal role of peace in fostering the development of a progressive society, asserting that the youth of Jammu and Kashmir are now moving forward with renewed determination to realize their aspirations.
Saying that the dark phase in the region’s history had adversely affected the future of the youth, Sinha acknowledged the resilience of the youth and commended their newfound resolve.
It is pertinent mentioning here every year, November 7 is celebrated as Foundation Day of Bharat Scouts and Guides and various events are observed throughout the month.
During an interaction with the J&K Bharat Scouts and Guides, Sinha urged the scouts and guides to actively engage in social development and work towards achieving social equity.
The occasion marked the celebration of the foundation day of the organisation at the Raj Bhawan, where the Lieutenant Governor was presented with a sticker flag.
Reflecting on the challenging times in the history of Jammu and Kashmir, Sinha highlighted the importance of peace as a prerequisite for the development of a progressive society and called on the volunteers to spread the message of peace globally.
Sinha praised the more than 63 lakh scouts and guides, considering them an inspiring example of unity in the diversity of the nation. He emphasised the crucial role of Indian youth in achieving the goal of becoming the third-largest economy in the next four years, as India has already emerged as the fifth largest economy.
The Lieutenant Governor outlined five goals for the scouts and guides, urging them to promote ancient values, contribute to the journey of ‘Viksit Bharat,’ work towards the unity and integrity of the nation, educate youth about the potential and challenges of modern technology, and launch an awareness campaign for environmental protection.
Highlighting the selfless service of the J&K Bharat Scouts and Guides team, the Lt Governor emphasised their role in capacity building, instilling values like discipline, and contributing to relief operations with commendable courage.
Congratulating the Scouts selected for the prestigious President’s Award, the Lt Governor assured full support from the administration to further strengthen the Bharat Scouts and Guides movement in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He also interacted with scouts who represented India at the 25th World Scouts Jamboree in South Korea, extending his best wishes for their future endeavours.
Subash Chander Chhibber, Director of Youth, Services, and Sports, as well as Chief Commissioner of Bharat Scouts and Guides J&K, briefed the Lieutenant Governor on the organisation’s achievements and on going activities.
