The Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Traffic Police has taken an important step to ensure that their personnel are equipped with the necessary skills to provide immediate assistance to victims of traffic accidents
“Traffic Police personnel are first to reach the scene of an accident. Hence, in order to ensure traffic police personnel have the requisite skills to provide correct and immediate assistance to traffic accident victims, J&K Traffic Police has initiated a programme for training all traffic police personnel in basic life support skills.
“This programme is being organized in association with the J&K Health and Medical Education Department (Directorates of Health Services Jammu/Kashmir at Jammu Skill & Simulation Centre, Regional Institute of Health & Family Welfare, Nagrota, Jammu and Regional Institute of Health and Family Welfare, Dhobiwan Tangmarg.”
It further states that, “In order to ensure that the training is properly imparted, traffic personnel will be trained in batches of 20 at a time till the entire staff is covered. In addition, every traffic police vehicle will be equipped with the First Responder Kit to ensure that the traffic police personnel have the necessary materials and equipment in hand to provide proper assistance to traffic accident victims.”
“This initiative is part of the ongoing drive of U.T. of J&K under the guidance of Hon’ble Lt. Governor and D.G.P J&K to reduce the fatalities of road users during traffic road accidents. Other initiative in this regard being implement by J&K Traffic Police include identification and rectification of Black spots, intensive drive against over speeding/non wearing of helmet, Drink and Drive/Overloading and adoption of new technology in J&K like e-challaning and ITMS.
