SRINAGAR, Sept 11: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today chaired a high-level meeting to review preparations for the upcoming ‘Sewa Parv,’ scheduled to be celebrated across Jammu and Kashmir from September 17 to October 2, 2025.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo; Additional Chief Secretaries Shantmanu (Higher Education) and Shailendra Kumar (Agriculture Production); Principal Secretary to the LG Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari; Administrative Secretaries; Divisional Commissioners; Deputy Commissioners; and senior officials from various stakeholder departments.
During the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor took a comprehensive review of the activities planned by departments and district administrations to promote public service, community participation, and inclusive governance.
LG Sinha emphasised that the celebration should reflect the commitment to a ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Viksit Jammu and Kashmir,’ urging officials to focus on tangible outcomes rather than symbolic gestures. He called upon senior officials to lead by example and ensure departmental activities align with key development priorities.
He directed departments to identify gaps in flagship scheme coverage and make dedicated efforts to achieve saturation. Furthermore, he mandated instituting a robust daily review mechanism at the district, divisional, and departmental levels.
Highlighting the importance of social welfare, the LG stressed the inclusion of drug de-addiction drives, disaster management awareness campaigns, and special grievance redressal camps as part of the Sewa Parv activities.
Departments were also instructed to set realistic targets for their initiatives and monitor progress through a dedicated digital portal.
The LG emphasized educating students on civic responsibilities and pressing national and social issues through platforms like the Youth Parliament. He called for relief efforts and addressing concerns in flood-affected areas, promoting personal hygiene, curbing single-use plastics, and supporting the welfare of the elderly, poor, and specially-abled among the planned activities.
Additionally, he directed the organization of debates and essay competitions on Mahatma Gandhi to foster awareness of his ideals.
Sinha reiterated that Sewa Parv’s guiding principles—public service, community participation, and inclusive governance—aim to create meaningful community impact by ensuring every voice is heard and every section benefits from development efforts.
The celebrations will focus on themes such as Cleanliness Drives and Environmental Action, Education Initiatives, Engagement with Elderly and Vulnerable Groups, Health and Nutrition Programs, Awareness and Capacity-Building Workshops, Cultural Activities, and Public Outreach Campaigns.
A dedicated online portal will be launched to facilitate seamless coordination, real-time monitoring, and transparent reporting throughout the event.
The LG was also briefed on the ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan’ campaign, which will run concurrently from September 17 to October 2, 2025, emphasizing women’s health and empowerment as crucial to family and community progress.
