Jashn-e-Chillai Kalan: CRPF organizes indoor games tournament at GBHSS, Zadibal

Srinagar, Jan 04: 144 Battalion under the aegis of Srinagar Sector, CRPF organized indoor games tournament as part of ‘Jashn-e-Chillai Kalan’ at Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School, Zadibal on Wednesday.
A number of bubbling with enthusiastic youth from nearby localities registered themselves for Table Tennis, Carrom and Chess since morning. It was a delightful sight to see the youngsters participate in Table Tennis, Carrom and Chess competitions. Scores of students, teachers and locals in presence of prominent Intezamia members and Moulvies cheered for the players.
Kishor Prasad, DIG (Ops) Srinagar Sector graced the occasion as chief guest. He told in address that the said event was the part of events being organized across Srinagar to engage with youngsters during harshest winter Chillai Kalan. This initiative envisioned by Miss. CharuSinha, IPS, IG CRPF, Srinagar Sector, was aimed at tapping young talents in different fields and provide them with bigger platforms and opportunities”.
Tassaduq Hussain Mir, KAS, Director School Education was also present in the programme. He said that such an initiative was highly appreciable and would enhance the sporting skill and confidence among youth.
During closing ceremony students performed band display and other cultural activities. A pledge to stay away from drug abuse was also administered on the occasion to all participants and gathering.
The winners and runners up across each event were awarded with prizes and certificates.
Each participant was given a certificate of appreciation for participation. Nadeem Ahmad Samdani, Commandant-144 Battalion speaking on the occasion emphasized upon the need of nurturing youngsters and their role in nation building. He thanked the guests, participants, teachers and members of Intezamia committee from nearby masjids for their august presence in the function.
K. K. Pandey, PRO and Commandant-75 Battalion CRPF, Masquoor Ahmad Zargar, SP Hazratbal, Ajay Verma, 2-I/C – 144 Battalion, SDPO Zadibal along with SHO Zadibal and Lal Bazar graced the occasion with their presence.
