Jammu, March 22: District Jammu Softball Championship organised by District Jammu Softball Association in collaboration with J&K Sports Council under the auspices of J&K Softball Association concluded with an appreciated participation at GGM Science, College, Jammu here Saturday.
Domana Softball Club lifted the men’s title while as Jammu Club grabbed the women’s title in the Championship. Baldev Singh, former deputy mayor, JMC was chief guest on the closing ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest congratulated the organizers for organising the Championship in a most befitting manner. He said every Athlete who is associated with the Sport of Softball should work hard to bring laurels for J&K as this sports falls in the sports requirement quota of J&K Government which will be beneficial for the Softball Athletes in future.
While lauding the tremendous efforts of Nuzhat Gul, Secretary J&K Sports Council for uplifting sports and games in the Union Territory, the Chief Guest said that Sports Council is providing modern sports facilities to the athletes to blossom at the higher levels. Every Athlete has to take the advantage of the facilities provided by the Sports Council at various centres. He also said he would also love to extend thanks to the Principal GGM Science College, technical team, Colleges and Schools for their contribution towards the grand success of this championship.
Later, the Chief Guest distributed medals and trophies among the winner, runner-up and third place teams. He also presented mementos to guests present in the concluding ceremony and Officials from various schools and clubs.
J&K Sports Council Screens Teams for 34th Sub-Junior National Kabaddi Championship
Udhampur, March 22: The Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, in collaboration with the J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association, Saturday successfully conducted the screening of boys’ and girls’ Kabaddi teams for the upcoming 34th Sub-Junior National Championship, set to take place in Gaya, Bihar, from March 27 to March 30.
The screening event was held at Subash Indoor Stadium, Udhampur, under the supervision of Kuldeep Kumar Gupta, General Secretary of the J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association, and Vikas Dogra, Incharge Manager of Subash Indoor Stadium. The occasion was graced by several dignitaries, including Tanvir Sheikh, President of the Udhampur Kabaddi Association; Surinder Mohan Gupta, Observer from the J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association, Jammu; and Ashok Kumar Sharma, Chairman of the Udhampur Kabaddi Association. Experienced coaches Ram Kumar, Anita Devi, Sunita Devi, Pratyaksh Bhogia, and Mir Alam also oversaw the selection process. The screening aimed to ensure that the finest talent from the UT Kabaddi Championship was chosen to represent Jammu and Kashmir at the national level. The championship, sponsored by the J&K Sports Council, will provide a platform for young athletes to showcase their skills and compete at a higher level.
