Jammu, Feb 3: After more than twelve days, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, in close coordination with the Delhi Police, Monday arrested five accused from Delhi, who were involved in a broad-day murder of Sumit Jandial alias Gataru on January 21.
Jandial alias Gataru was gunned down by three youth in broad-day light in Jewel Chowk, the busiest area of Jammu City. Out of the five arrested persons, three are from Jammu, who were involved in the killing while two youth are from Delhi, who gave shelter to the accused.
Sources said that the accused were arrested while they were trying to board a bus to leave Delhi. “The investigation is on,” a source in the police told Rising Kashmir.
It may be recalled that Gataru was killed in gang-war and ‘Khouf Gang’ had claimed responsibility on social media for the murder.
Gataru, is reported to be the kingpin of the Gataru gang and was detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) last year. The 37-year-old was a resident of Vijaypur, ward number 5.
On January 21, three people intercepted a red coloured Thar at Jewel Chowk and opened fire at Gataru. He was immediately shifted to GMC, Jammu, where doctors declared him as brought dead.
