Srinagar, Aug 07: Syed Mantaqui Memorial College of Nursing and Medical Technology (SMMCN&MT), Islamic University of Science and Technology hosted a program on Global Nursing: Education Opportunities in America.
Dr Manjulata Evatt Clinical Associate Professor, Duquesne School of Nursing, Pittsburgh, USA, and Prof. Suresh Sharma Professor and Principal at the College of Nursing, AIIMS Jodhpur among others were the speakers of the programme.
Prof Ayub Qadri, Dean of Health Sciences, Ms Neelofar Jan, Principal SMMCN&MT and Ms Asmat Parveen, former principal SMMCN&MT interacted with the participants of the programme, the university said in a statement.
Dr Manjulata Evatt discussed the expanded roles of nurses beyond bedside care, emphasising critical thinking, decision-making, leadership and the impact of technology in advancing the profession.
Prof Suresh K Sharma emphasised the global phenomenon of population ageing and India’s potential to become a leader in providing competent human resources, especially in nursing.
Prof Ayub Qadri highlighted IUST’s dedication to providing quality education to nursing students. The event concluded with a scientific session, where Prof Suresh K Sharma and Dr Manjulata Evatt delivered special lectures.
Ms Asmat Parveen underscored the importance of global nursing in addressing worldwide healthcare challenges, providing critical care, and improving health outcomes in diverse populations.
