Srinagar, Oct 03: In a remarkable stride towards promoting education and fostering unity among students, Islamia College has taken the lead in initiating classes for Semester 1 across the Kashmir Division. The institution’s morning assembly today marked the commencement of the academic journey for Batch-2023, aligning with the Academic Calendar and adhering to the guidelines of the National Education Policy 2020 by UGC, New Delhi.
The morning assembly, a cherished tradition at Islamia College, provided an inspiring start to the college day, instilling values of moral integrity, community, and mental tranquility among students. Professor (Dr.) Khurshid Ahmad Khan, the Principal of the College, welcomed the freshers admitted to Major, Minor, Skill, and Multidisciplinary courses based on their performance in the UG-CUET conducted by NTA and the college’s intake capacity in Semester 1.
Dr. Khan emphasized the significance of the assembly, highlighting its role as a platform for motivation, learning, and purpose. He also provided valuable insights into the diverse disciplines offered by the college, ranging from 3+1 years to 4+1 years Honors/IPG and research programs.
Professor Ab. Majid, the Staff Secretary of the college, underscored the positive impact of morning assemblies on students, encouraging them to approach each day with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. The senior faculty members of the college engaged with the newcomers, fostering a sense of camaraderie and support.
Dean Students Welfare (Boys), Professor Mehraj-U-Din Gagloo, urged students to maintain discipline and adhere to the college’s dress code during their stay on campus. Dr. Mir Mohmmad Hanif, who served as the anchor and moderator for the assembly, highlighted how such gatherings could help students develop public speaking skills and overcome stage fright.
Islamia College’s commitment to starting the academic year with a morning assembly reflects its dedication to holistic education and the holistic development of its students. As the Batch-2023 begins their educational journey, the college’s leadership aims to inspire and empower them for a successful and enriching college experience.
