Inter-Department Cricket Tournament 2025: Media Studies Department Enters Quarterfinals After Beating Statistics

Baramulla, June 20:The Inter-Department Cricket Tournament, organised by the Department of Physical Education at Government Degree College Baramulla, saw another exciting match today at the Prof. Showkat Ali Stadium.

The Department of Media Studies won against the Department of Statistics by 19 runs and moved into the quarterfinals.Media Studies won the toss and chose to bat first, even though the weather was very hot. They scored a total of 123 runs. Reyan played a brilliant innings, scoring 58 runs. Zain also helped the team by adding 32 important runs.

 

In response, the Statistics team gave a tough fight and scored 104 runs. Kaiser stood out for his team with a fighting knock of 50 runs. However, the bowlers from Media Studies performed really well. Owais took 3 wickets and Zain showed his all-round skills by taking 2 key wickets.With this win, Media Studies has secured a place in the quarterfinals.Zain, a final-year student and star of the match, shared his thoughts: “It was hard to perform under the scorching heat. With every run, I lost stamina. As an outgoing student, this is my last tournament with my department, and I strived to smash every ball on the pitch. I congratulate my team and hope for the best in the quarterfinals “This tournament continues to bring students together, promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and a strong sense of unity at GDC Baramulla.
