Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (IAS), Director, Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) inaugurated a 10-Day Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) under Mission Youth’s Tejaswani livelihood scheme. The training program was organized by JKEDI’s Centre for Women Entrepreneurship (CENWENT) and coincided with the ongoing celebrations of International Women’s Day.

The EDP was attended by female candidates from across the Jammu district and they will undergo a training program with a focus on self-development, basic business skills, business and marketing plan formulation, account management, sector-specific technical inputs, and will be appraised of all the formalities involved in setting up an enterprise. The aim of the program is to help candidates to be self-reliant and facilitate capacity building.

Director JKEDI congratulated the women present at the program and said that there is a lot to celebrate about women’s achievements. He added that there is much more to do in that direction and we need to embrace equality and build a better world for women.

“I want each and every candidate present here to focus on innovation and adopt latest technology. One should undertake a thorough market survey before choosing an activity, so that the their business venture turns successful. It is imperative to take advantage of various Government initiatives meant for setting up an enterprise,” said Director, JKEDI. Under the leadership of Lt. Governor, Shri Manoj Sinha, the Government is committed to creating an enabling environment for entrepreneurship and self-employment. Single window system for new businesses is one such step towards ease of doing business, he added.

The scheme is a special initiative of Mission Youth J&K, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, aimed at providing financial assistance to young women for setting up gainful self-employment ventures suited to their skills, aptitude, and local conditions. It will empower and encourage women to set up income-generating units through manufacturing, services, or trading activities.

Upon successful completion of the training program, these registered female candidates will receive assistance in establishing or expanding their business ventures. Their Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) will also be prepared by JKEDI.

There are two centres specifically for women entrepreneurship one each in Srinagar and Jammu working as program verticals of JKEDI for specifically for development of womens entrepreneurship in J&K. Dr. Mehraju Din Bhat, Incharge Trainings, Vishal Ray, Incharge CIIBM, Divya Sharma, In-Charge Centre for Women Entrepreneurship, Jammu among others were present on the occasion.
