Samba, Mar 17: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Working President Raman Bhalla on Sunday claimed that the INDIA alliance will win all the six Lok Sabha seats in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh in the general elections.
Addressing a workers’ meeting in Ramgarh constituency organized by former minister and JKPCC Vice President Yashpal Kundal, Bhalla said, “Like in the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC)-Kargil elections, INDIA alliance will sweep the forthcoming Lok Sabha election in J&K and Ladakh. It will emerge victorious in these elections elsewhere in the country too.”
He said Congress is ready for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and will contest the poll together with others in the INDIA alliance. “I feel Congress is now a good and strong party in J&K. It will emerge stronger enough to form the government with like-minded parties, as no party will be able to form the government without Congress which is the only secular and democratic party in the country,” he said.
Bhalla said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has “nothing to sell except indulge in religious politics, while people reel under unprecedented price rise and large scale unemployment”. He urged the party workers to gear up for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections and strengthen booth and village committees to defeat the BJP which he said has polarized the society.
“Congress fought for freedom and democracy in the country while the Modi government is ruling the country with the help of ED, CBI, IT and other agencies and targeting opposition leaders to hijack democracy,” he said.
The JKPCC leader also raised serious concern over the “hijacking” of media in the country by the BJP, saying that “the truth is not coming to people”.
He said the Congress leadership has started working on a revival plan and the cadre is being revitalized to carry on the party’s political campaign with renewed vigour. “Congress is a movement that will surge back and continue fighting anti-people policies of the Centre and LG’s administration in J&K,” he said.
JKPCC Vice President Yashpal Kundal in his address said, “J&K needs humane handling and promotion of genuine democratic process which cannot be achieved by inspired fragmentation of votes in a particular region of J&K. The people here are eagerly waiting for assembly elections and they will teach a lesson to the BJP and show this party its place in the next elections. “
