"J&K to Remain Largely Dry Till May 9, Brief Afternoon Showers Possible at Isolated Places": MeT

Srinagar, May 6: The India Meteorological Department (MET Centre Srinagar) has forecast a mix of dry and wet weather conditions across Jammu and Kashmir over the coming days, with a gradual rise in temperatures and a spell of rain and thunderstorms expected later this week.

According to the forecast, weather conditions from May 6 to 9 are expected to remain largely dry across the Union Territory. However, brief afternoon showers at isolated places cannot be ruled out.

From May 10 to 12, the weather is likely to turn generally cloudy, with one or two spells of light to moderate rain or thundershowers at scattered to many places. Thunder and gusty winds are also expected at a few locations during this period.

Between May 13 and 15, conditions are expected to remain partly to generally cloudy, with no major precipitation activity predicted.

The MET Centre has issued a caution regarding the possibility of thunder, lightning, and gusty winds with speeds of 40–50 km/h at a few places in both Kashmir and Jammu divisions between May 10 and 12.

Farmers have been advised to continue their agricultural operations until May 10, making use of the relatively stable weather conditions.

Meanwhile, a gradual rise in daytime temperatures by 2–4°C is expected at many places across Jammu and Kashmir over the next five days.
