From childhood, visiting Kashmir was my dream, but I remained busy with shootings. Here is what OMG Ye Mera India season 9 fame producer Krushna Abhishek, had to say in conversation with Rising Kashmir correspondent Aatif Qayoom.

Kashmir and Bollywood’s tryst is old, many classics were shot here. How do you feel it?

KA: There is no doubt that Kashmir is heaven on earth. As a producer, I have travelled all over the world and have never seen anything like this. A day before, I was talking to my family and I told them there was no need to go to Europe or any other place as there is no place like Kashmir anywhere in the world. I have met a lot of people here, and their hospitality can’t be expressed in words. I feel there is an emotional connection with Kashmir.

Before coming to valley, what were yourviews about this place?

Yes, I was concerned about how people would treat me. But while coming out of the airport, I got an overwhelming response from the locals; everyone gave me a lot of love and respect. The way people treated me I will never forget it.

As a producer, do you have any plans to shoot a movie here?

After visiting Kashmir for the first time, I have seen a lot of connections and stories around me. I would love to shoot a full movie here. Presently, we are just roaming the tourist places and we are yet to see Kashmir, as Kashmir is beyond these tourist places. The other places will be more beautiful.

In recent times, movies shot here mostly depict politically driven stories. How do you see it?

Those who are shooting the movies here should explore other facets of Kashmir also. They can also make pleasant movies like Shami Kapoor has spent more time in Kashmir, and his songs have never had a political tone. A good romantic movie can be made here. I wonder why we go to Switzerland when we have Kashmir like place here.

While shooting movies, a 25% subsidy is provided. Does it really help in promoting film culture?

The subsidy is a great thing. This is applicable in Bihar, UP and other states. This is a great thing to promote film culture. There are very few states that are providing a subsidy for shooting films. There can’t be a better place than Kashmir, anywhere in the world. The new film policy is really fantastic, and I believe this will be a game changer.

Who is Krushna Abhishek

Krushna Abhishek is a popular Indian comedian and actor. He is the nephew of the famous Bollywood actor, Govinda. Abhishek born on 30 May 1983 in Mumbai is well renowned for his hilarious stage appearances as a comedian as well as for some of the most well-liked B-town movies.

The young actor serves as the host of the well-liked programme “OMG! Yeh Mera India.”
