HSS Wanpoh Clinches U-19 Volleyball Title

Anantnag, July 11: The District Youth Services and Sports Office (DYSSO) Anantnag Friday concluded the District Level Volleyball Tournaments for boys across various age groups, marked by high energy, competitive spirit, and commendable sportsmanship.A statement issued here said that in the Under-19 category, Higher Secondary School (HSS) Wanpoh emerged as champions after battling through a field of 36 enthusiastic teams. HSS Kabamarg secured second place, while HSS YK Pora finished third in the final standings. The Under-17 title was claimed by Zone Mattan, who overcame Zone Qazigund in a closely contested final. In the Under-14 category, Zone Achabal lifted the trophy after defeating Zone Bijbehara in a thrilling showdown. Each of these categories saw 12 teams vying for top honours. The tournaments witnessed the participation of nearly 600 students, all of whom demonstrated remarkable skill, teamwork, and discipline throughout the competition. Standout performers included Habil Mushtaq, Sahil Shameem, Suhaib Nisar, and Mudasir Shah, who earned praise for their consistent excellence on the court.At the closing ceremony, District Youth Services & Sports Officer Raja Yaqoob and other officials from the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Anantnag, felicitated the winners and runners-up with trophies and extended their appreciation to all participants for their spirited involvement and adherence to fair play. The department reiterated its commitment to promoting grassroots sports and ensuring ample platforms for youth to showcase their talent and grow through competitive opportunities at the district level.
