Srinagar, May 18: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Monday ordered a major reshuffle in the Higher Education Department, transferring several Principals and In charge Principals across Government Degree Colleges in the Union Territory.

The order, issued by the Higher Education Department through Government Order No. 141 JK(HE) of 2026 dated May 18, said the transfers and postings were made in the interest of administration and would take effect immediately.

Under the reshuffle, Mohammad Zubair, presently on deputation to Cluster University Jammu as Dean, has been posted as Principal of Government Degree College Ghagwal. Basharat Iqbal has been shifted from GDC Kishtwar to GDC Bhaderwah, while Farooq Ahmed has been transferred from GDC Nowshera to GDC Sidhra.

Sanjay Kumar has been posted as Principal of MAM College Jammu from GDC Udhampur. Bhavnaish Chand has been moved from GDC Ramnagar to GDC Udhampur.

Tasleema Bano has been transferred from GDC Magam to GDC Baramulla, while Naveen Anand has been posted as Principal of GCW Parade Jammu and will assume charge from June 1 after the retirement of Ravender Kumar Tickoo.

Shalini Sharma has been transferred from GDC Majalta to GCW Bhagwati Nagar Jammu and will take charge from June 1. Gazala Gayas has been shifted from GDC Pampore to GDC Kokernag.

The government also assigned additional responsibilities to some officers. Jyoti Parihar, Principal Government College of Education Jammu, will hold additional charge as Dean Education, Cluster University Jammu till further orders.

The Principal of GDC Hyderpora Srinagar has also been asked to hold additional charge of GDC Budgam from June 1 following the retirement of Mohammad Amin Malik.

Several Associate Professors were also shifted and assigned look after charge of Principal posts in different colleges. These include postings at GDC Budhal, Vijaypur, Sogam, Hadipora, Beerwah, Pampore, Langate and other colleges.

The order further stated that 22 senior Associate Professors have been given temporary look after charge as Principals in various colleges, including Sopore, Chatroo, Khansahib, Mendhar, Kralpora, Marwah, Kupwara, Magam, Kishtwar, Soibugh, Tangdar and Tangmarg.

The government clarified that these arrangements are temporary and will remain in force till regular Principals are appointed through the J&K Public Service Commission.

It also said the arrangements would not provide any preferential claim for promotion and could be reversed in case of adverse reports from investigating agencies or court directions.
