Srinagar, Mar 25: The Jammu and Kashmir Government acknowledged the shortage of both teaching and non-teaching staff in the educational institutions of the Karnah Constituency.

In response to a question raised by MLA Javid Ahmad Mirchal during the Assembly session, the minister responsible for school education stated that the education department is currently facing challenges in staffing schools in the Karnah Constituency due to several factors: There have been no teacher recruitments in the past five years, following the freezing of teacher positions as per the State Administrative Council’s decision in 2018,. A significant number of retirements among various categories of teaching staff have occurred, and the resulting vacancies have not been filled.

The extensive upgradation of schools has not been accompanied by the necessary creation of new posts, further exacerbating the shortage of teaching staff.

The minister stated, “The department is making every effort to address the shortage of teaching staff in government schools through rationalization and the deployment of Cluster Resource Coordinators across Jammu & Kashmir, including the Karnah Constituency.”

Currently, there are 55 vacancies for Lecturers in the Karnah Constituency, and during the previous academic session, 18 Cluster Resource Coordinators (CRCs) and subject-specific teachers were rationalized to help mitigate the shortage of teaching staff at the plus two level.

The minister also mentioned that the vacant positions of 5 Principals, 4 Headmasters, and 1 ZEPO in the Karnah Constituency are being filled through promotions.

To address the shortage of non-teaching staff in the Karnah Constituency, the School Education Department has implemented necessary rationalization and deployment measures.
