Srinagar, June 06: In a distressing incident, the principal of a government school in Srinagar, Shabir Ahmad Mir, has been arrested on charges of molestation, as confirmed by the police. The accused, residing in the Zadibal area of Srinagar, was taken into custody after a case was registered against him.
The Srinagar Police took to Twitter to announce the registration of a case against Shabir Ahmad Mir under several relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The charges include stalking, obscene acts or using obscene language, and criminal intimidation. The case has been filed at the Shalteng Police Station.
The School Education Department wasted no time in responding to the serious allegations of molestation. They promptly suspended the principal and initiated an inquiry into the matter. Alok Kumar, the Principal Secretary of the School Education Department, issued an order directing the Director of School Education to conduct a thorough investigation and submit a detailed report.
Citing Rule 31 of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control, and Appeal) Rules, 1956, the order stated, “Pending inquiry into his conduct, Mr. Shabir Ahmad Mir, Principal Government BHSS Gund Hassi Bhat, Srinagar is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect. The said officer is attached with Director School Education Kashmir.”
The Director of School Education Kashmir has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting a comprehensive inquiry into the matter and presenting a report along with recommendations. The swift action taken by the authorities showcases their determination to address such grave allegations and ensure a safe environment for students in educational institutions.
