GCoE M. A.Road organises Annual College road race

College Principal appreciated Physical Education Department for successful conduct of event

Srinagar, May 09: Aimed to boost the physical health of the students, the Department of Physical Education, Government College of Education M.A. Road Srinagar organised the Annual College Road Race for Men and Women.

For men, the race started from Nehru Park at 06:30 a.m. and for women’s section, the race started from SKICC to Nishat Gate at 06:40 a.m. A total number of 56 athletes :31 from men segment and 25 from women segment of the college , participated in the race with great zeal and enthusiasm.
The race for men was flagged off by Dr.Mohammed Yasin Pir (Convenor Sports) and for women’s section, the race was flagged off by Dr.Mohammed Ashraf Wagi (Staff Secretary )starting from SKICC at 6.40am .
The brief award ceremony of the event was held at Naseem Bagh Srinagar.On the occasion,Principal of the college Prof. Dr.Seema Naz encouraged the participants and highlighted the importance of games and sports in the day to day life. She also congratulated the efforts of Physical Education Department for successful conduct of event and appreciated their efforts in conducting all other events round the year in a very conducive and efficient manner. Later, the Principal of the College in presence of other faculty members of the college distributed trophies and medals among the first ten position holder’s from both men and women who participated in the event.
Winners in men section were Mohammad Kaif, Gowhar Ahmad and Showkat Ahmad bearing 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively. The winners in women section were Muskaan Bilal, Syed Soulleh and Sehla Jan having 1st, 2nd and 3rd position. The whole award ceremony function was moderated by Prof. Abdul Gani Kumar(Member sports committee). Later,light refreshment was served to the participants.
